5K Run for the Animals at Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary

On May 17th, a few Organic Athlete members from forming Washington DC chapter, as well as their family and friends, put together a racing team for the annual 5K run benefiting Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary.

Our team time was the best among the non-animal rights organizations, and was forth best overall after HSUS, PCRM and COK. Not bad for a team that is mostly comprised of cyclists.

Successful first meeting

The Washington, DC chapter's first meeting went well- with 12 interested members and more who couldn't make the meeting, we're off to a good start.

We discussed OA membership and clothing, training and racing together, potential events, potential local sponsors, and where we wanted to take the group. Our next meeting is tentatively set for Nov. 2nd, and will be a potluck.

OA at the AR2008 Conference

2008 AR Conf Pam Jeremy OA Robert VBB
2008 AR Conf Pam and Howard Lyman

All I can say is - I want Jeremy's legs!!! :)
While Robert was flexing his arms, Jeremy's legs took the Gold Medal.
I told Robert I wouldn't flex b/c I didn't want to show him up.

Poor turnout for the Vegan Athlete lunch - it appears because, while it was on the schedule, the room was not on the schedule and the room they had us go into was on the other side of the meeting area - very inconvenient for people that wanted to eat and talk.
