It may be 'cross season, but I'm still getting my run on. Riding a bike is great and all, but there is something about flying over the ground on two feet that just feels so natural.  Oh, and there is a 5k I want to hit hard this coming weekend.

Thwarted

My morning swim workout was cut pretty much in half because apparently now at my neighborhood pool from 8-10AM there is kids swim team practice starting this week and going for the next four weeks.... guess I'll just have to wake up earlier...and then not have a semi-valid excuse for being late to work hehe.

Acclimated

Perhaps its because of the "offical" summer solstice but I finally feel like I'm finally fully acclimated to the Austin summer weather. It felt AWESOME today to get out and run for two hours including mile intervals and hill repeats at noon in 100 degree's and be LOVING the heat!

What moment? This moment

Charity asked me last night, "what do you notice when you first wake up in that moment when you first come to consciousness?" I woke up this morning trying to get back to unconsciousness. Tired, hungry, and sore after yesterday's Grasshopper, I had an idea that I would do a long run as the final preparation for the Auburn duathlon in two weeks time. As I rolled out of bed, I wondered if that was the best idea.

Tour of the Gila Experience -- Day Two: Inner Lop

was really worried going in to this race. I had absolutely no appetite in the morning. I had a "magic drink" of green power, oatmeal, soy protein, and soy milk and a piece of spelt bread and peanut butter. The race was 77 miles in 40 mph winds. Ouch. I drank only three bottles and had 6 goos. When I got home I had tempe, vegan gourmet and corn tortillas. For dinner I had borwn rice, chick peas, salad, broccoli, and carrots.

Motivation

It got nice and hot last weekend here in San Diego! It was 90+ at my place and 80's at the beach. It felt like mid summer! It reminded me of some fun high school summers that involved getting up super early and going surfing, coming home and eating a bunch, then going on a bike ride for a few hours or something, then eating more, then going and  skateboarding at night or going swimming somewhere - basically just not stop exercise and food and good sleep!

Preparation starts at the dinner table...

Practice, familiarization with your equipment, and proper diet are of paramount importance in triathlon. Tonight I combine all three...

Wetsuit SOS

I finally got my wetsuit, 1 week before competing in the Wildflower Half IM. I think I might need some more T1 practice first though....
