First one to the top of Blucher Valley Road wins. This is a great opportunity to practice riding in a pack in a fun, yet competitive situation. Roads are open to traffic. Stop at the stop sign. There is one left hand turn; be careful. Meet at the West County Revolution Bike Shop at 6pm to roll out to the start at intersection of Bloomfield and Canfield.
A fairly smoothly paved 36k TT. Long false flats with a break at the turnaround. After that first half riders call out their number when crossing the halfway point(riders must be available to start in less than one minute) and line up on the opposite side to get a new start time. Two times are combined for a total time.

I did race after all yesterday, I did 4 hours
total, 3 hours racing on the 52 mile hilly rolling
course. Hour long warm up trying to get my hips and
back loosened up. I fell victim to a rather obvious
attack on the 'pave' section on lap 1. What could I
do? I knew it was going to happen. The two teammates
attacked into the gravel on the left, I was on their
teammates' wheel on the right, I crossed the deep
gravel to get on the fast train on the left, and
someone got gapped, big time, by the attackers. I
moved back over to try to get around and there was the
Well marshaled, straight out and back, wide smooth shoulders and flat to slightly rolling and couple of short climbs.
Big Ring all the way!
Low traffic on a Sunday morning.
The Grasshopper Adventure Series is a cycling institution here in West Sonoma County. Now in its tenth year, the grasshoppers are a series of bike rides (er, races) that feature the best roads that this area has to offer.
I heard of the grasshoppers when I first moved to Sonoma County, but last year was the first year that I got out to see what all the talk was about. It was sketchy like any other big group ride with 150+ people careening down narrow roads, but damn was it fun.

Course: 62 miles. The course starts out with a 20 mile out-and-back along Pine Flat resevoir. This is mostly gentle rollers -- nothing too exciting. A non-technical 5 mile downhill section is followed by about 25 miles of flat straight road through farmland. On this 25 mile stretch there are exactly 2 bumps, each about 100 meters long. Finally, after two righ-hand turns, the fun starts.
Ah, Valley of the Sun. I really hate this race. Flat TT that I can't go fast on. Road course that's too easy to make any selection and a super-fast scary crit. I guess it's good for me, or at least that's what I tell myself every year.
