Although King Winter officially hasn't started yet, we got our first share of snow this weekend. On Saturday it all was quite okay, but today most roads were quite slippery and this afternoon everything is covered with a white layer. While most people like snow, I can't appreciate it very much. The main reason for it being that I have to be flexible what to do at the track. Today the track was covered with some ice and snow, so doing speed training would not go very well. Today I did a 'hill' workout, running 20 times up on a slight hill.
While the cross-country has started already here in Belgium, I have to wait until the end of December to start my indoor season. I thought there would be about 8 meetings I could do, but 2 of them turned out to be for youth only. So I'll have 6 meets to show that I am faster than last year. The main competition is scheduled for 4 January when I'll do the provincial championships. Maybe I'll combine both 60m and 200m, I'll decide after my first 60 and 200m of the season on 20, 26 and/or 27 December. Hopefully I can get into the final of the 60m.
Last Saturday and Sunday we were in San Francisco for the Veg Festival. Believe it or don't, but the green van doesn't need to be pushed anymore to start. Yeah!
These days I've been working hard to get ready for the upcoming indoor season in Belgium. I haven't made up my mind yet whether I'll run only 60m events, or whether I'll do the 200m event too. At this moment, the most important day of the indoor season will be January 4th, when the Provincial Championships take place in Ghent. I'll do a couple more meetings, which take place in Ghent, as we only have one indoor hall.
I've been in the United States for just over a month now, and I consider myself a lucky bastard as I am staying another month! Honestly, a couple of years ago, I really had doubts about the US of A. But it was all prejudice. One of my best decisions ever, besides joining OA and going vegan, was coming to the US and leaving my Belgian life for about 10 weeks. What I've seen so far goes way beyond the expectations I had when I decided to come over and be an intern at the OrganicAthlete Training Center:
My name is Jürgen and I’m living in Belgium, a small European country. When I learned about OrganicAthlete, I decided to become a member immediately. Being a member may be nice, but after some time it gets quite boring, especially if there are no activities in your neighbourhood. Travelling to the States for every OA activity is not an option, so it’s time to let Europe know OrganicAthlete exists! We definitely need more OA members to meet together!
