Music and Bikes - an OA weekend
We had quite the OrganicAthlete weekend! On Friday night, Anita Sandwina and her group the Raven's Tale played at Coffee Catz. , I enjoyed listening to the beautiful harmonies with a deep environmental and peaceful message.
On Saturday morning, Brett Dollar, Andy Bunnell, Brian Bauer, and myself met at the West County Revolution Bike Shop to ride the Tour d'Organics 100 mile route. I needed to ride the course with my GPS in order to put a map up on the website (look for this soon). The first 30 miles of the course are the most hilly, and Brian and Andy were quite frisky on the climbs. In Graton, we met Jane, Michael, and Howard who planned on joining us for the remainder of the journey. While we were waiting for everyone, Chris Lods passed us on his way to play his concert at Hopmonk Tavern.
With the sun now out, the 7 of us made it to the intersection of Eastside Rd and Wohler Rd, where the 35 mile route splits off. Jane, Brett, and Andy took this route. The rest of crew followed me the last 50 miles of the TdO route. Brian kept a strong pace, showing off his form for Race Across America.
My favorite moment of the ride had to be stopping at loquat tree just south of Healdsburg. They were so ripe and juicy!
In Windsor, we bumped into Anita who was headed out for a training ride to Sweetwater Springs. Anita is preparing for the Ross Dillon Hill Climb. Good luck Anita!
By the time Brian and I (Howard and Michael had turned in early) made it back to Sebastopol, I was convinced of Brian's good form for RAAM. I've never seen Brian so fit!
Saturday night, Charity debated whether we should go see Chris Lods or Mark Growden in concert. Two OA members having a concert on the same night! In the end, we didn't leave the house.
Sunday morning, Jane and Charity met for Charity's women's ride, while I drove out to Occidental to ride with the Gianni peeps in Willow Creek. WOW! Willow Creek is stunning. The trails are some of the best I've ever ridden. And I crashed hard. I fell on my ribs, and, er, ouch. I wince with every movement.
I hope to get back out there soon.
