Saturday Oct 4, Doyle Park in Santa Rosa, was the beginning of my first ever cyclocross race. I barely knew what cyclocross was until the monday before when Justin Torrellas gave Andy Bunnell and I a one hour cross clinic on dismounts and remounts. Then wed. I did a little pre-race practice at the park, then off we go on Sat.

It was cool to see Emily Thurston ride up before the race and yell out cool jerseys!
We all did some warm up of the course and it was muddy in places do to the first rain of the season on friday, made some nice slick areas in the corners and small hills coming out of the creek beds.

I missed my woman's C race. I f___ed up, the woman's A and B started and the C's were to leave 15 minutes after, so I was just riding around warming up and didn't realize they started the C's one minute after the A and B's. My first race and I blew-it. Three of us C's made the same mistake so they let us race with the Mens' B and Andy's group 45+

I had a blast, cyclocross is such an athletic journey on the bike. I'm hooked and look forward to the rest of the series.

Standings, well I think I was DFL or close to it. Emily might have been the same in A, but we had fun! Andy got 5th in his class, what a powerhouse he is, I can see him climbing on the podium this season.

It was a cool day of cyclocross!
